3 Steakhouses You Have to Try in Anaheim

Every year, Anaheim is the most popular city in Orange County for tourists from all over and, of course, that’s no mystery! Home to the Happiest Place on Earth, thousands of people come to visit each and every year. That being said, Disney is far from the only attraction in town and, of course, far from the only place to grab a bite. Especially if a great steak is what you’re after, Anaheim certainly steps up to the plate. Here are 3 steakhouses in Anaheim that you have to try.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Disney princesses and animated icons aren’t the only legends to be found in Anaheim. Ruth Fertel, known as the First Lady of Steak, also leaves her mark on the world and in the city. Founding her first steakhouse in 1965 against all legal and social norms, her legacy of perfect steak, warm hospitality, and good times lives on in this restaurant.

Mouth-watering selections of New York Strip, Ribeye, and Porterhouse and waiting to be ordered off the legendary menu, with specialty cuts like Lamb Chops and the Tomahawk Ribeye looking to tempt the right guest. Enjoy a special glass of seasonal wine with your steak, or any of the carefully crafted cocktails.

Check out their website here.

Anaheim Fleming’s

For a tried-and-true classic, Fleming’s Anaheim location is one choice you can never go wrong with. Perfect for special occasions and events, the experience, hospitality, and delicious food will all make for a satisfying and memorable evening. If you prefer the comfort and safety of your own home, Fleming’s also offers curbside pickup.

Start your meal off with amazing starters such as the Seared Pork Belly or the Ahi Tuna Poke Stack, make the night special with a specialty cut like the Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye, and seal the deal with incredible desserts like the iconic Chocolate Lava Cake. Children’s options and a gluten-free menu are also available!

Craft by Smoke and Fire

Traditional steakhouses are never the wrong choice, but it can be healthy to shake things up a bit every now and then. Craft by Smoke and Fire is the perfect way to do so. They say it themselves: “We don’t just feed the body; we focus on the soul.”

For the devoted steak purists, the impressive menu features a classic Porterhouse, Tomahawk, and New York Steak—certainly fantastic options. For those who want to paint outside the lines a little bit, you can enjoy some delicious Smoked Prime Pastrami or a New Zealand Rack of Lamb among other mouthwatering proteins. The menu stretches much further too so, one way or another, everyone’s going home happy.

These are our favorite spots to enjoy some great steak in the city, but Anaheim certainly has more than plenty to offer. Did we miss your favorite steakhouse? Reach out and let us know!

3 Upscale Restaurants in Laguna Niguel

3 Upscale Restaurants in Laguna Niguel

The master-planned community of Laguna Niguel has so much to offer residents and visitors alike, especially when it comes to showing off the beautiful Orange County outdoors. For many, Laguna Niguel is the place to be when it comes to parks and trails, as well as a vibrant community of art and culture. You can’t have great culture, of course, without great food, and Laguna Niguel delivers here too, especially when it comes to upscale dining. Looking for an upscale dining experience in Laguna? We’ve got you covered.

Hendrix Restaurant and Bar

When you hear the word “rotisserie,” chicken is probably the first thing that comes to mind—and not in a particularly fine dining sense either. Hendrix will certainly turn that concept on its head for you. When you walk into the restaurant, you’re greeted by a huge rotisserie that showcases whole chickens, porchetta, and an entire leg of lamb. It’s a sight and smell that’ll make you salivate, and what this protein turns into will make your jaw drop altogether.

Rotisserie protein might turn into the Leg of Colorado Corn Fed Lamb which is dressed in mint-garlic labneh and au jus, or in the beautiful Pork Belly accompanied by pickled veggies. Rotisserie isn’t the only thing on the menu either. Soups, salads, and mouthwatering starters like the Hamachi Crudo will make deciding what to order an existential crisis.

L’Hirondelle Restaurant

Technically just outside Laguna Niguel in San Juan Capistrano, L’Hirondelle has been offering continental cuisine with a strong French and Belgian influence since 1982. This quaint, cozy, and romantic restaurant will surpass your expectations with everything from the excellent service to the delicious food and wine. Local regulars even say it gets better every time!
Order some amazing wine to go with the Tarragon Chicken dressed in creamy Dijon mustard sauce, or the Volcano Lamb Shank that’s simmered in Merlot wine sauce. Finish off your meal with a beautifully caramelized Crème Brulee, or a delicious Coupe Maison.

The Bistro K

Every dish has its story and, often, the places where we dine have stories that are just as interesting; Bistro K is one of these places. The restaurant’s story starts with three brothers who all grew up loving to cook, so much so that their competition to prepare the best dishes led them on enriching journeys as chefs throughout the world. One brother, Tony Bagatta, eventually made his way down to SoCal from Cape Town, where his establishment would be a popular destination for some big names—Jerry Lewis and Neil Armstrong, to name a couple. His daughter, Katia, would also inherit this love for cuisine, and came to welcome happy guests into Bistro K in 2008.

The Bistro serves delicious and satisfying meals that are a blend of traditional Italian recipes and exciting new flavors. With incredible pasta like the Seafood Pappardelle and entrées such as the Brazilian Moqueca, there is no doubt you’ll be tasting the generations of dedication to flavor in every bite.

These are some of our absolute favorite locations for upscale dining in and around Laguna Niguel that are sure to impress each and every time, but as things go, there are certainly more places to explore and enjoy! Did we miss your favorite upscale spot? Reach out and let us know!

Is Irvine A Business Hub? What Kinds of Businesses Thrive in Irvine?

Orange County is a popular and a favorite destination for many different kinds of enthusiasts, from beach lovers to die-hard Disney fans alike. Breathtaking ocean views and beautiful hikes are great attractions for those seeking fitness and adventure. Great culinary scenes are welcoming to foodies from all over, and culture lovers are happy to explore the thriving art communities.

However, Orange County is just as much business as it is party, and the thriving business hub of Irvine stands as proof. A great space for both small and large businesses, let’s take a look at how different businesses do so well in Irvine.

Small businesses

Just as the Irvine Standard lays out, Irvine isn’t just a great place for businesses, it’s the best place in California to start a business. With such a well-educated population and a great geographical placement, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The master-planned community leverages its proximity to LA and San Diego urban spaces, allowing for a wide variety of successful small businesses and companies, from fashion to entertainment and everything in between.

If you want to support small businesses in Irvine, you can find clothing and accessories at local stores like KESTAN and Un.Affected. Get some great local grub at HiroNori and Urban Seoul. With such a lively small and local business scene, there’ll surely be a small business to support just about anywhere you look!

Bigger businesses

Of course, being a great spot for businesses to thrive isn’t limited to local business. The same reasons that make Irvine great for startups and small companies also grab the attention of plenty of big names. This, and being able to take advantage of talent in the community, especially with University Research Park and UC Irvine in the neighborhood.

Take a stroll through the city and you’ll see names like Google, BlackBerry, and Amazon decorate the Spectrum District, as well as plenty of other Fortune 500 companies. Having this presence in town is not only a testament to Irvine as a business hub, but is also great for the local economy and for creating plenty of local jobs.

5 Best Hikes in Laguna Beach

5 Best Hikes in Laguna Beach

The small coastal city of Laguna Beach is a beautiful beachside community home to beach lovers and surfers, artists, and foodies, and to an active community of trail lovers. Any beachside stroll is a lovely time, but Laguna Beach is home to some of the best trails for beginners and hardcore hikers alike. Here are our 5 favorite and best hikes in Laguna Beach!

Reef Point and Crystal Cove Trail

Perfect for beginners or for anybody looking for a less challenging walk along the beach, the Reef Point and Crystal Cove Trail takes hikers along Crystal Cove State Park and the beautiful beach views. Expect quite some traffic along this popular path, particularly from runners and birdwatchers.

Once you’ve finished the path, the park has plenty to look out for as well. Visitors enjoy boat and whale watching, enjoying the wildflowers, and, of course, enjoying the beautiful scenes set by the sun. Go over to Moro Beach to enjoy a little soak in the sea as well.

Crystal Cove Perimeter Loop

For a more challenging hike near Crystal Cove, try the Crystal Cove Perimeter Loop. Not only is this 15 km loop more difficult thanks to the longer distance traveled and the abundance of inclines, but it also takes you away from the busy suburban scene. Hidden away from the rest of the city, it’ll feel like you’re tucked away in nature far from the trends and technology of suburban life—even if it’s just around the corner.

This also makes it a fun and hassle-free spot for camping. About 3.5 km down the path, you’ll find a campground off Deer Canyon trail. With only a few picnic tables and chemical toilets, you’ll have to carry everything you need for a camping trip with you. The good thing is, since you’re so close to civilization, it’s not a big deal if anything doesn’t go quite as planned!

Big Bend, Bommer Ridge, Willow Trail

This nearly 8 km loop has two faces, one more welcoming than the other. The elevation gain is nearly 300 meters, so one way or another, you’re going to notice a climb. Go counterclockwise and you’ll be greeted with a steep and seemingly non-stop incline that anyone will struggle to get all the way up. Once you’ve conquered the climb, however, you’re rewarded with beautiful ocean views and the sight of snow capped mountains. The path after this point is fairly even and calm, with a slight and relaxed decline until the end.

Go clockwise, of course, and you’re greeted with this gradual incline all the way to the top. The tradeoff then becomes the steep decline—less tiring, but still tricky to navigate. Either way, expect to work up a sweat on this intermediate trail.

Car Wreck Trail

If you like a little mystery with your exercise, then the Car Wreck Trail is perfect for you. As the name suggests, this trail is meant to show off the wreck of a 1946 Dodge coupe hidden in the hills above Laguna Beach. How exactly did this car get in an accident in the middle of nowhere? Nobody knows for sure, which makes it a popular sight to check out along the hike.

The 5.5 km trail isn’t terribly long, but the paths are steep and there is virtually no shade, so it can be a challenging experience for beginners and more seasoned hikers alike. Make sure to bring plenty of water and the appropriate gear for this one.

Dos Bancos Ridge

If you’re looking for a challenge, this short but difficult trail is more of a climb than a walk. With an elevation gain of about 150 meters over only a kilometer and a half, there is caution to be had. Watch out for rock faces with little traction on the way up and on the way back down. Of course, the trail isn’t all bad, offering great views and a relaxing breeze along the way.

These are our favorite hikes in and around Laguna Beach, from relaxing walks along the ocean to more challenging treks. There are certainly many more trails to explore, however! Did we miss your favorite hike? Let us know!

What Are The Most Affluent Areas To Live in Orange County?

What are the most affluent areas to live in Orange County?

Orange County is known for a lot of amazing things. From the magic of the happiest place on Earth, to the stunning views on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, to so many wonderful things to do and see in between, it’s no wonder that many Orange County communities are such coveted places to live and visit. Orange County is, of course, known for one other thing: money.

Alongside the beautiful sites and magical experiences, it’s no secret that it costs a pretty penny to live in many of the Orange County communities. So, whether you’re setting your goals high for a future residence or you’re getting ready for a career-located relocation to OC, here are some of the most affluent areas to live in Orange County.

Laguna Beach

A vibrant community full of artists and art-lovers alike, Laguna Beach is home to beach-lovers, cultural enthusiasts, amazing food like the incredible Mexican seafood establishment Las Brisas, and, of course, some high living costs.

Laguna Beach is the most expensive city on this list, with a median home price of about $2.7M and a median rent of about $2.3k. The median household income rests around a comfortable $186K, usually coming out of a 2-income home. Laguna Beach is a beautiful community with plenty to see and do each and every single day—but this beauty comes at a price!

Newport Beach

Maybe it’s having “Beach” in the name that drives prices up, but Newport Beach is second on our list. The city is famous for whale-watching, surfing, great foodie spots, fun hikes, and, appropriately, yachting.

Laguna Beach edges out Newport Beach due to recent economic trends, but to be sure: Newport Beach is not far behind. Median home price falls just over $2.2M with a median household income of about $127K. Although the tides may have shifted, Newport was once called the richest city in the US.

Dana Point

Third on our list and the first to not sport “Beach” in the name is Dana Point. Home to the longest running Festival of Whales on the planet, Dana Point is very well known for being a fantastic whale and dolphin watching spot.

Whales don’t pay rent, however, and Dana Point residents unfortunately do. The median home price here is just over $1.4M, with the median rent resting just above $2K and the median household income being just under $100k. These numbers are still certainly nothing to scoff at, but they are a noticeable step down from our other two cities listed above.

Wherever you go in Orange County, you’re bound to find similar numbers in many of the communities. Following on the list would be Rossmoor, Los Alamitos, San Clemente, and Villa Park. Las Flores is the first name that has a median home price below $1M (just barely). To be sure, however, these high prices are not for nothing. Between and around these valuable homes are even more valuable communities and experiences that give Orange County the shining reputation it has each and every day. Whether it’s sooner or later, if the tides of live are bringing you to OC in the future, we’ll be glad to see you here!

3 Best Parks in Laguna Niguel

3 Best Parks in Laguna Niguel

Laguna Niguel is the first city in California to be a master-planned community, and the easy-going environment with a relaxing coastal climate seems to agree whole-heartedly. From the country club to trails around the city to amazing comfort food, there’s always something to do at Laguna Niguel. One of the most popular activities, however, is visiting the city’s beautiful parks. After all, a day spent breathing fresh air is medicine we all need from time to time. Here are our favorite parks in Laguna Niguel!

Crown Valley Park

Parks are all about community, and a good park in a master-planned community should certainly reflect this. Crown Valley Park is a fantastic example. The city’s recreational events and programs are concentrated here, attracting hundreds of thousands of people every year. Activities for visitors of all ages are happening all year long.

Catch a summer concert at the newly renovated amphitheater, cool off in the sprayground next to the park playground, or splash around in the outdoor pool. There will always be something to do at Crown Valley Park!

Niguel Botanical Preserve

Technically located inside Crown Valley Park, as pretty big botanical fans ourselves, we consider the Niguel Botanical Preserve to be deserving of its own spot on this list. In their own words, “the purpose of the Niguel Botanical Preserve is to display garden-worthy plants appropriate to the Southern California region, collected from five areas of the world with similar Mediterranean climates.”

From Australia to Chile and South Africa, there are a variety of plants that you can grow and show-off in your very own garden, and the Niguel Botanical Preserve is your perfect guide to do so. Besides, the Preserve is home to a neat little path that can take you through the fauna and let you explore all of the wonderful colors. Garden nerds rejoice!

Laguna Niguel Regional Park

Last but certainly not least, Laguna Niguel Regional Park surrounds a beautiful 44-acre lake that is regularly stocked and ready for fishing. Picnic shelters and some of the region’s best hiking trails are readily accessible, as well as an amphitheater, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, volleyball and tennis courts, and even an area specifically designated to model gliders. Laguna Niguel Regional Park is the perfect spot to plan your day-at-the-park all year round.

With spots like these, it’s always easy to take a day out of your week and spend some time soaking in some sunlight and enjoying the refreshing breeze. Having such easy access to so many wonderful parks is one of the things we love most about Laguna Niguel, after all. Did we miss your favorite park in the city? Do let us know!

IS IT EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA

huntington beach, is it expensive to live in huntington beach, orange county

IS IT EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA?

We’re not going to sugarcoat it. Yes, it is expensive to live in Huntington Beach. In 2015, Money Nation had Huntington Beach listed as the fifth most expensive city in the country, and while it might not be on any top 5 most expensive lists anymore, you can imagine that it hasn’t wandered into the budget territory.

Of course, a significant cost of living isn’t exactly unheard of when it comes to Orange County, and a beachside residence with perfect weather near highly-rated schools already sounds like it comes with a luxury price tag. But what exactly makes the city so expensive?

IT’S ALL ABOUT HOUSING

When it comes down to it, the biggest expense you’ll have to worry about in Huntington Beach is housing. This shouldn’t be a surprise, since housing is the biggest expense most people anywhere have, but Orange County housing tends to be a tad more significant. Huntington Beach is, of course, no exception.

According to Zero Down, the average rent for a 2-bed home in Huntington Beach is over $2000, while the median home price is just over a comfortable $1 million. To put that in context, that means that rent is 98% more expensive than the national average while owning a home is about 248% more expensive than the national average. In simpler terms, housing is quite expensive. However, as we mentioned, you are paying for a fantastic location in a very safe city with endless gorgeous views.

OTHERWISE, MANAGEABLE

What might come as a surprise to a lot of people is that, while housing is undeniably pricey, the remaining expenses tend to be more manageable. Goods, services, and other regular expenses don’t tend to stray too far from the national average, with some costs like utilities even dipping under the national average. While rent and homeownership certainly come with a shocking price tag, the remaining cost of living is more or less average.

What this means, generally speaking, is that housing should be your main priority. If you can afford housing in Huntington Beach, you can likely afford the cost of living in general.

Huntington Beach is expensive, but you get what you pay for: miles of publicly accessible and surfable ocean, public beachside bonfire pits, one of the longest piers on the west coast, a thriving and diverse food scene, regular events, and live music happening year-round, and, of course, your own little slice of paradise. If you’re looking for a place to settle down in Orange County, Huntington Beach would be a great option for you to consider. Hope to see you here!

Orange County is a beautiful and safe place to live and work. With so many houses there is bound to be some roofing work needed. If you are in need of a roofing contractor in Orange County, then contact Horizon Roofing here. You can also directly call us here.
